Session
Performance Tuning With Your Developers
Not everyone who writes queries has "database" in their title, and there are some routine development mistakes that can lead to real performance issues on the backend. This session will review common issues you may see when application developers write queries and will prepare you for discussions on these performance issues.
Join an experienced database engineer as we review topics that are common pitfalls for developers. We'll review code patterns to avoid, explore a few design issues, discuss useful metrics, and dig into execution plans. In this session, we'll share real-world situations, practical examples, and consider how we can work with our developers to make improvements.
At the end of the talk, you'll have an understanding of common performance issues and how to address them, along with some methods for cooperating with other teams. This session is intended for database engineers and admins who work with application developers, but it should also be relevant to application developers who write database queries.
