What's new in DAX

Microsoft recently added some interesting new features to the DAX language. This workshop gets you up to speed on the Time Intelligence improvements, User Defined functions, Windowing functions and Visual Calculations

Time intelligence improvements no longer force you to have 'traditional' months: If you have 13 months, an academic year, or you just want to use weeks in your calculations, the new time intelligence has you covered.

Ever felt frustrated because DAX was missing that function that you needed? No longer despair, because you can now create your own user-defined functions in DAX. You will see how to use this, and explore a few use cases.

SQL users might know how powerful the OVER clause is in SQL, but DAX also has windowing functions. You will see how to get started with functions such as WINDOW, RANK etc.

Visual calculations provide an option to define calculations that just work within a single visual. That sounds limiting, but it brings the benefit that the context of the visual can be used, making it a lot easier in writing e.g., Percentage of Parent calculations.
