T-SQL is constantly growing. New data types such as JSON and VECTOR were added. We also got a wide range of new functions. String handling was made a lot easier with fuzzy string matching and support for regular expressions, more advanced string concatenation options and better unicode support were added to the language as well. It also became a lot easier to call certain REST services from within T-SQL.
