You've Got Notifications? Real-Time Messaging for SPAs on Azure
Single page applications are fast, responsive, and require very little backend power — perfect for web-based interactive applications. But unlike connected frameworks like Blazor Web Apps, they have no direct channel to receive updates from the server, meaning your users don't know anything has changed until they refresh.
Real-time push notifications should be easy to set up, lightweight to run, and simple to reason about. Azure Web PubSub delivers exactly that — instant server-to-client messaging, narrow or broadcast, with filtering rules to ensure messages only go where they should.
In this session we'll build and demo it live together, then apply the same pattern to a real-world scenario and give you a clear framework for when this is the right tool for the job.
Bring your phone. You're part of the demo.
This session is available in two formats:
50+ minutes: Live coding from the ground up, including a live audience demo, followed by a real-world walk-through of a book sharing application built on the same pattern.
30+ minutes: The same live coding and audience demo, with the real-world scenario covered in discussion rather than code.
Some coding knowledge will help you follow along, but the core concepts are accessible to anyone.
