Better, Wiser, and Good: Cultivating Empathy and Support in Our Interactions
In the tech world, it's easy to forget that people aren't just collections of 1s and 0s. Mental health issues can be as complex and unpredictable as bugs in code. This session will provide practical tools to help you manage these challenges.
In a world where we want every individual to bring their unique experience and challenges into daily interactions, supporting one another has never been more crucial. To understand our team better we need to understand ourself better. Life happens and we are not our best self all days.
Left alone no team is perfect from the start, few teams are perfect over time. Like mental health is not a one-time fix, our teams need some TLC to inspire and embrace us over time. Putting in work to understand how the team communicates is a great start.
This session delves into how we can learn to enable empathic communication, connecting to ourself, give feedback and actually do something good for our team.
You'll learn what to say and what to avoid, how to offer support, and how to steer clear of common pitfalls. By making these conversations easier, we can foster a culture where mental health conversations become a regular and normalised part of our interactions.
