Open source - but secure

Open source has taken the (IT) world by storm. Linux as an operating system, Kubernetes for workload orchestration, OpenSSL for cryptographic security—and now even the most widely used AI models. This is great news, as it drives innovation without vendor lock-in.

But as Milton Friedman once put it: “There is no such thing as a free lunch.” The world is not Disneyland, and the widespread adoption of open source inevitably attracts not only interest, but also malicious intent.

In this masterclass, we will discuss the open source model, its legal foundations, the current threat landscape, and how both large and small organizations can use open source securely and responsibly.
