Shared services - good idea? or bad idea?
A shared service is a service that handles a common behaviour, used by different domain-specific services so that they don't all have a similar implementation of the same thing. Sounds good right? But did you ever ended up with such a complex shared service that adjusting it to new features takes 4 times as long as doing it on the domain-specific service? we did.
In this postmortem I'll share how good intentions were not enough and what have we learned from working with over complex shared services
