Improving Data Visualization through Deeper Analytical Skills

While having our data in great shape is a massive part of our journey (and makes it easier to visualize), when considering potential business insights, we might first explore what's readily available on the surface of our data models: things like simple counts, sums, and averages. Yet many stop there. In addition to developing front-end design and data literacy skills, there’s a wealth of statistical and analytical approaches that can also be leveraged to curate insights and guide deeper understanding.

In this session, our panel will discuss the potential and possibilities of sharpening our data visualization skills through exercising and developing our data analytics skills. We will explore how to apply these approaches and techniques with Power BI to tackle visualization challenges, rethink approaches to designing visuals (while keeping the vital design objectives in mind), and share other ideas and experiences that have yielded great results.
