Visualization planning and data story telling

BI projects often begin and end with cleaning and organizing data and finally presenting the information in a visualization. This is only a small aspect of how a BI project should begin. The best way to begin a BI project is with the story in mind and refine it as the project progresses. This session will teach you the principles of data storytelling from start to finish. This process is the best way to increase new report adoption.

In this session, you will learn:
• What preliminary questions to ask the project sponsor and key user stakeholders.
• How to know your audience and tailor-make reports for their needs
• How to create actionable insights
• How to choose the correct visualization
• How to avoid clutter
• How to select the correct color pallet
• How to organize data in a way that aligns with visual interpretation and knowledge transfer
• How to create ideas that stick
Lastly, we will cover a sample data story based on a visualization. You will know how to deliver key data insights to gain audience acceptance and traction.
