Self-Organisation: You Keep Using That Word. I Do Not Think It Means What You Think It Means.
In Agile there is a lot of talk about self-organising teams, often without realizing what that really means and entails. Terms like product teams, stream-aligned teams, and cross-functional teams are frequently used to describe what companies are looking for and all these require some form of self-organisation. No wonder we struggle if that first principle is not even understood.
In this talk, we will take a closer look at what it does mean to be self-organising and how to enable it; what an organisation needs to put in place to make teams thrive, and what responsibility and opportunities it puts on its members. Using age-old and well-researched social sciences we will see that done right, it will radically change the structure, performance, and quality of work life for all. At all levels. So much so it will probably surprise you.
This talk has only been held in private for now.
