It's an honest reflection on the side of AI development that rarely makes it onto conference stages: the human cost of training data, the ecological footprint of data centers, dark patterns baked into AI products — and what AI companionship is doing to us as a society.
AI is here to stay. And that's not the point. The point is that the code we write shapes behavior, culture, and people's lives — and that comes with responsibility. As UX professionals and developers, we're the ones building these systems. We should probably talk about what we're actually building.
