Session
Data Access Security in Microsoft Fabric
In this session dedicated to Microsoft Fabric, we will explore how platform-level permissions and granular SQL authorizations work together to secure access to Fabric Warehouse environments and provide precise control over user privileges.
As organizations increasingly rely on data-driven decision-making, protecting sensitive information while enabling secure collaboration becomes a critical challenge. This conference will demonstrate how Microsoft Fabric provides advanced security capabilities to implement a robust and governed data access strategy.
During the session, participants will discover how to design and implement fine-grained access control using:
Microsoft Fabric workspace and item-level permissions to manage access across analytics environments.
SQL granular permissions to control access to databases, schemas, tables, views, and other objects.
Row-Level Security (RLS) to ensure users only see the data relevant to their business role.
Column-Level Security (CLS) to protect sensitive attributes and restrict access to specific data fields.
Object-Level Security (OLS) to hide specific objects and simplify security management in semantic models.
Dynamic Data Masking (DDM) to protect confidential information while maintaining usability.
Through practical demonstrations and real-world scenarios, attendees will learn how to build secure access models, apply the principle of least privilege, and strengthen data governance within Microsoft Fabric environments.
By the end of this session, participants will understand how to effectively protect sensitive data, improve compliance, and design scalable security strategies that allow users to access only the information required for their responsibilities.
