Building Production-Ready Serverless Systems

Serverless abstracts away servers so we can deliver value faster, but it also amplifies the challenges of distributed systems. Performance testing a production serverless system revealed the hard truth: eventual consistency, partial failures, and cascade effects don't disappear - they become harder to reason about.

This session teaches distributed systems design patterns through the lens of serverless architecture. You'll learn how to reason about consistency boundaries in event-driven systems, design for partial failures in workflows, handle backpressure across service boundaries, and build observability into distributed serverless systems.

Each pattern comes from performance testing failures and production fixes. You'll leave with frameworks for making architectural decisions that account for the distributed nature of serverless systems.
