4 Levels of Security: Protect Your Data in Power BI

Security in Power BI might seem like a trivial topic in theory, but making it work in real-life scenarios is a whole different story. Companies can have very complex and constantly changing organizational structures, full of cross-functional teams and overlapping roles. Building, and more importantly, maintaining a security model for such scenarios can prove to be tricky and challenging, unless properly planned from the beginning.

We’ve got you covered! Based on our experience with enterprise class deployments, we learnt the dos and don’ts of Power BI security setup and would love to share it with you. We’ll talk about how to find the right balance between report performance and satisfying business needs, while taking into account various limitations of Power BI and automating as much of the process as possible.

During the session we will show best practices related to protecting your reports and datasets on four different levels:
– row-level,
– object-level,
– page-level,
– visual-level.

The session will not cover the basics (i.e. how to set up a role with static filters), and is aimed at intermediate and advanced Power BI users.
