Sabiyur Rahman Abdul Sathar is a domain solution architect and senior technology leader with over 22 years of experience designing and building large-scale technology platforms, including 16+ years in financial platforms and payment solutions and 13+ years at PayPal.
He currently serves as Senior Staff Software Engineer / Domain Solution Architect for PayPal's Open Banking platform, responsible for the platform's overall architecture, domain boundaries, APIs, integration patterns, and technical direction, supporting Payments, Wallet, Risk, Consumer Credit, and Merchant Credit. He helped evolve PayPal's Open Banking capability from an initial proof of concept into a shared enterprise platform and designed the architecture supporting multiple Open Banking providers across the US, Canada, the UK, Europe, and Australia. He has led Open Banking architecture for PayPal Working Capital, PayPal Business Loan, and PayPal's consumer credit and BNPL products, enabling external financial data to support underwriting and cash-flow-based credit decisioning. He also contributes to Financial Data Exchange (FDX) Open Banking standards through industry working groups and technical reviews.
Earlier in his PayPal career, Sabiyur held roles as Member Technical Staff and Software Engineer, where he designed solutions across PayPal's Authorization/Capture and payment-processing platforms, led the technical design of PayPal Stand-In (an ML-integrated authorization decisioning and payment resiliency solution), and worked on the redesign of PayPal's Payments 2.0 fulfillment platform. Before PayPal, he worked at Ness Technologies on PayPal's Payments 2.0 platform and at HCL Technologies, where he led subsystem architecture for Teradyne's J750 and UltraFLEX automated semiconductor test systems.
His technical expertise spans domain and solution architecture, distributed systems, open banking and open finance, payment processing, and AI/ML-enabled decisioning, with hands-on experience in Java, Spring Boot, Google Cloud Platform (Cloud Spanner, BigQuery), Kafka, and REST/GraphQL APIs. He holds a Bachelor of Technology in Electronics & Communication Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli (NIT Trichy).
He has been recognized with PayPal's Critical Talent Award, Golden Envelope Award, Millennium Award, and multiple Spot Awards for technical excellence and delivery.
