Sagar Uprety is a pre-final year Computer Science student at Kathmandu University. He is the lead organizer of KU HackFest 2021 - Nepal's first digital MLH Hackthon. He also serves as the vice-president of Kathmandu Univesity Computer Club and loves contributing to tech communities. He is also a Postman Student Expert, Microsoft Learn Student Ambassador, and GitKraken Ambassador. He loves JavaScript, Flutter and cloud computing. He enjoys cooking, reading books, and traveling in his free time.

Organizing digital hackathons for students

Hackathons are a great way for students to showcase their talents, network, learn and have fun. But sometimes it can be challenging for organizers to plan and prepare for a successful hackathon. As in-person events are still restricted in most parts of the world, digital hackathons are proving to be an effective alternative and in many cases a better one as it helps us reach a larger audience from diverse backgrounds and are cost-effective. In this talk, we will cover all the planning and strategies from creating your organizing team to getting sponsorship, marketing your event, and giving your participants an amazing hacker experience. You will also hear my experience and insights of leading and organizng KU HackFest 2021 - Nepal's First Digital MLH Hackathon.
