Saideep Nakka is a systems-oriented medical device engineer with over a decade of experience leading the end-to-end development of complex robotic and navigation-assisted surgical systems. Currently serving as a Principal Systems Engineer at Medtronic, he has played a key role in driving full product lifecycle development from early-stage concept and Voice of Customer (VOC) insights to commercialization, ensuring safety, usability, and regulatory compliance across global markets.
Throughout his tenure at Medtronic, Saideep has led cross-functional engineering teams across mechanical, electrical, and software domains to deliver high-complexity medical devices. His work includes system-of-systems integration, design optimization of surgical instruments and high-speed motors, and execution of validation strategies using advanced statistical methods. He has also contributed to FDA submissions and international regulatory approvals through rigorous testing, animal studies, and technical documentation.
Saideep’s earlier experience includes roles at Becton, Dickinson and Company, where he focused on test engineering, feasibility studies, and translating clinician needs into design requirements, and at IBM, where he supported mechanical design, quality engineering, and supplier management for enterprise systems.
An innovator with a strong research background, Saideep has authored multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals and filed 16 patents related to surgical systems and robotic-assisted procedures. His contributions have been recognized with several awards, including Medtronic’s Technical Contributor of the Year (2024) and multiple Long-Term Incentive Awards for Technical Excellence.
In addition to his technical work, Saideep is an active contributor to the engineering community. He serves on the Medtronic Technical Forum Council, mentors students and early-career engineers, and regularly presents at scientific and engineering conferences. He holds a master’s degree in Engineering Technology from the University of North Texas and has completed advanced studies in Architecture and Systems Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
