Provider Portal : A Community Outreach Solution

The community level health care providers were finding for solutions, so does individual groups of Physicians. But due to the vastness and the cost folds of already existing Cerner’s other solutions it was not possible for them to afford nor it was effective. To bridge this gap Provider Portal came into existence.

A. Business Functionality:
Provider portal is Cerner’s open and interoperable outreach solution for community providers. It makes EHR facility reachable to smaller community level Like rural area, small nursing home and small group of physicians, etc. It increases the business by providing electronic orders, referrals, results, notifications, and secure communication to enhance connectivity and care coordination outside the enterprise. It enables subscribers to design, coordinate, and adapt workflow processes related to orders, referrals, consultations, and discharges. It contains patient and provider indexes to manage information flow to identified providers; a provider portal to engage providers and practices (including those without an active electronic health record (EHR)), a secure messaging system; and the Cerner Direct Health Information Service Provider (HISP). A clinical data repository is included in the system to ensure that data integrity is maintained. Provider Portal subscribers can view electronic health information concurrently or in the aggregate, retrospectively.
Through the MMD Patient Portal, patients can access clinical information directly from any Internet-enabled computer. A secure, browser-based portal opens communication between patients and their physicians, providing the ability to send and receive secure messages; request prescription renewals, check appointments, obtain legal copies of medical records; view medical history details; and complete online forms, view, Download and Transmit the patient Records.

With help of Provider portal, any type of medical provider can subscribe to EHR facility to maintain their business. It’s a smaller, compact, and configurable Cerner EHR system which can make affordable and useable solution for smaller community providers.
