Elevating Startup Tech using Java and Azure Cloud
"Quick and Dirty" is an overly used idiom, and we will try to prove that quick does not HAVE TO BE dirty.
Through this session, you'll learn about
1. Getting started on the right foot first with a build automation framework and TDD
2. Utilizing the following cloud technologies at our disposal
a) Azure Code Repositories for Git as a service
b) Azure Pipelines for CI/CD
c) Add quality gates on SonarCloud
d) Deploy your work on Azure
We will also talk about the value of feedback and how to acquire it at different levels of the PDLC.
This talk will be articulated with my experience helping startups launch their MVPs and fully utilizing the cloud!
Migrating AngularJS (1.x) enterprise applications to Angular 12
Dealing with enterprise applications is inherently complex. The typical Big Bang approach or complete system rewrite often doesn't yield the expected results. To stay current, it's crucial to embrace migration, which involves a strategic transition from old to new technology.
This session will explore migration challenges, such as technical debt, codebase migration complexity, dependencies, and testing challenges. We will also explore different migration strategies, comparing the conventional Big Bang approach with the incremental migration method. Additionally, we'll dive deeper into some practical migration steps, including setting up a hybrid app, code migration, routing, and state management, and implementing essential testing procedures. The session will conclude by highlighting post-migration activities, such as validating migrated code to ensure the future readiness of your application.
Accessibility First
“Done, except for accessibility” is the new “works on my box, ship it” - Jessica Kerr
Did you know that 1 in 6 individuals deal with some form of physical disability? The inability of many applications to cater to a broader user base poses a dual challenge, not only hindering inclusivity but also excluding potential paying customers. As developers, our assumptions about accessibility often lead to exclusions, and our actions end up speaking against our potential empathy. Unfortunately, many assistive tools designed to aid disabled individuals ironically have a significant learning curve, therefore turning out to be inaccessible to most!
In this workshop, we'll take a step toward inclusion and equality by understanding accessibility challenges, empathizing with users with disabilities through immersive exercises and solving these challenges through current solutions so developers can build accessible products.
Deep-diving into design aspects, we will explore guiding principles, essential tools like those found at Cactus Libraries, and design best practices that pave the way for a more inclusive digital environment. We also discuss development best practices, tools, and testing tools that serve as vital instruments in crafting a user experience that caters to all.
