Scott M. Reed, Ph.D., is a chemistry professor at the University of Colorado Denver and founder of ChemIllusion, a chemistry-native platform for teaching, visualization, and AI-assisted scientific work. His teaching and research span organic chemistry, molecular informatics, and the design of AI systems that combine language models with deterministic chemical tools. He has presented at American Chemical Society meetings, educator workshops, and international academic programs, including work as a Fulbright Specialist. Reed develops courses, open-source software, and educational tools focused on responsible and scientifically accurate uses of AI. His current work examines how educators can preserve student reasoning and scientific rigor while benefiting from generative and agentic AI.
