Shawn Higgins is the Academic Coordinator of the Undergraduate Bridge Program at Temple University's Japan Campus. His first book, "Bridges: United States Academia for First-Generation and International College Students," is an open educational resource published by Temple University Press in 2021 and is available at https://temple.manifoldapp.org/projects/bridges. He first joined AAAS in 2010 and has presented at 10 association meetings since. He also served as a AAAS delegate to the American Studies Association of Korea's annual meeting in 2019. He received his Ph.D. in English from the University of Connecticut in 2016. His work has been published in the Journal of Asian American Studies, Chinese America: History and Perspectives, Sounding Out!, China Review International, The Scholarly Teacher, American Indian Quarterly, the International Association for the Study of Popular Music's blog, the St. John's Humanities Review, through the Fred T. Korematsu institute, and in numerous books and encyclopedias.
