I have a very long title at GLC Minerals in Green Bay, WI (home of the kick-butt Green Bay Packers!): Quality Management System Lead and Business Development Analyst. Very hard to fit on one line of a business card. Oh, and I'm the GP Admin, too.
I was named the GP Admin at my last job at the end of 2013 when the former Admin left. I think it was because I sat in the same office he did. I was immediately thrown into the deep end of the GP pool where Management Reporter definitions devour the unwary. Hundreds of reports later I remain UN-devoured. Perhaps I'm undigestible.
I'm an obsolete .NET and web developer. The last app I wrote was in 2013 [sigh!]. Before that I ran my own development business for about 15 years, so I have an appreciation for what business owners go through. I have an iconoclast's desire to see every individual file quarterly estimates and send checks to Uncle Sam, just as businesses do. Might that change our Congresscritters' spending habits?
I sold personal computers for three dealers, back when that was way more common than it is now. Before that I was a radio disc jockey for six years. That was the most fun job I ever had. I parlayed that broadcast experience to play the Voice of God for children's puppet shows at my church.
I've been a Cubmaster and District Popcorn Kernel, and a Neenah, WI, city councilman for a short spell. Over the years I've been President or Secretary for a variety of volunteer organizations (theater, user groups, investment club, chess organizations) and I'm a two-time Wisconsin Amateur Chess Champion).
I glommed onto GPUG very early on and became immersed in the community. I must have been really noisy on the GPUG Forums because I was given the GPUG All Star award on my birthday in 2015 at the GPUG Summit in Reno. That was something I'll never forget.
After that I dived into the GPUG - Milwaukee Chapter where I learned the ropes from the most decorated GPUG volunteer ever: Michelle Kocher. We doubled our average attendance; and now I co-Chair the award-winning Green Bay GPUG Chapter as well as the "Titletown, USA" Power BI User Group... and I've won four Emerald Volunteer Awards.
I hope to see you at Level Up! Midwest and Summit!
