Sung Kim is a former gang member from Chicago who is doing a PhD in Ethnic Studies. He explores the racialized experiences of the poor urban working class AAPI community in the U.S., especially those of street gang members and in their proximity. As an underrepresented AAPI member from this community, he seeks to provide a different lens in understanding the AAPI experience outside of the dominant narratives in the field of race.
