How To Use BlueSky and LinkedIn to Find a Job
Mass applying to jobs just does NOT work anymore. And if you don't know someone at a company you are probably on the outside looking in. After being a traditional recruiter for 10+ years and learning how to leverage social media to be seen, I want to give that same knowledge to you. I have seen countless amount of developers use my tactics and end up finding jobs on their own!
This is a very hands on talk where I will be sharing my screen and have other people get on their computers and walk through the creation of their profiles and then will go through exercises on how to connect with people. This can be a workshop because of how deep we can get or I can scale back to a shorter talk.
Exposing the Job Search Process
After interviewing thousands of engineers and helping hundreds of companies scale their engineering teams, this talk will help you fix all the mistakes I've seen everyone make over the last 13+ years of my career. This will be one of the most real and unfiltered conversations around hiring and the job search you have ever been a part of.
I gave this talk at All Things Open in Raleigh in 2024, and accepted to speak with this talk at DevWorld 2025 in Amsterdam. This talk is so applicable because it can be for anyone at any point of their career. Ideally this talk is better in a 45+ minute time slot because of the crowd engagement. A lot of this is around Q&A.
How Content and Community Can Impact Your Career
We are not meant to go through this life alone and this session will give you practical tips on building community and why putting yourself out on the internet can help you achieve new heights in your career. After growing my community and posting content for the last handful of years as my career, it's my community and the people I've met through content that has gotten me to where I need to go and I want you to experience the same thing.
Spoke at CityConfJS (2024) with this talk in Mexico. Probably one of the most overwhelming positive feedback I've ever received from a talk. This talk can scale from a shorter session to longer session.
