Do we still need Lambda in 2024?

Everyone knows that it was AWS Lambda that kicked off the Serverless Revolution when it was released in 2014. Now for most developers serverless is synonymous with Lambda and Lambda is often used as the glue between other AWS managed service offerings.

But can a modern functional web application be built using no compute (and no containers) at all?

Come join the lightning talk to see if I can meet this crazy goal and see what lessons I've learned along the way.

"I have a container image. Now what?"

Suppose your CTO came over to you and said "Get this container based application running in our AWS account."
There are many options for running containers in our favourite cloud environment - Elastic Kubernetes Service, Elastic Container Service, App Runner, Batch, Beanstalk, Lambda, Lightsail and even Red Hat OpenShift on AWS (aka ROSA).
How do you select which of these services to use and how do you get started with them?
Afterwards grab the Terraform Infrastructure as Code files and try it out yourself.
