Teresa Ojeda is a retired city planner. A lifelong student of San Francisco history and geography, she has led and continues to lead walking and biking tours of the city’s neighborhoods. At the start of the pandemic, she started poring over old maps and Census records. Amazed by the treasure trove of data available online, she decided to map the pioneering Filipino community in San Francisco during the first decades of the 20th century, dispelling old notions that they never formed settlements.
