Dr Tine Munk is a Senior Lecturer in Criminology at Nottingham Trent University, specialising in cybercrime, cybersecurity, and digital warfare. Her research focuses on politically motivated actors and actions, the strategic use of digital media in modern information conflicts, and the intersections of memetic warfare, civic resistance, online extremism, and digital victimisation. Her work bridges criminology, cybersecurity, and digital media in international contexts. She is Principal Investigator of The Complex Web in Memetic Warfare (2024–2025), a BA/Leverhulme-funded project with Aarhus University, Denmark, which explores how memes are used as strategic tools in information warfare, particularly in Ukraine and their wider impact on U.S. and European discourse. Her publications include The Rise of Politically Motivated Cyber Attacks (2022), Memetic War: Online Resistance in Ukraine (2024), and Far-Right Extremism Online: Beyond the Fringe (2024). She is co-editor of Victimisation in the Digital Age (2025) with Dr Morag Kennedy. This edition is based on the 2023 Online–Offline Continuum conference, and she leads two online symposiums in 2025 on digital harms, civic resilience, media literacy and memetic warfare. She is also co-editing the book New Types of Civic Resistance and Activism (2025) with Dr Ian Mahoney and Elliot Doornbos. Dr Munk has presented her research at EUROCRIM, Security BSides Barcelona, the Kyiv International Cyber Resilience Forum, and BrightTalks 2025. She currently serves as a Nottingham Civic Exchange Policy Fellow (2024–2025), contributing to public understanding of cyber threats, communications and digital resilience.
