After graduating with a BS degree in marketing from Morehead State University in Kentucky, Tom was a pilot in the USMC. He retired as a major in 1995 after Desert Storm. His civilian career began as a diagnostic sales representative with Abbott Labs. At Abbott in Chicago, he was a sales trainer. He was promoted to U.S. cancer product manager. After Abbott he was the VP of Sales & Marketing for Amersham Corp. in Arlington Heights, IL. He was called up for Desert Storm. Upon return, Kodak had purchased the diagnostics division of Amersham. He went on to be the General Manager for Critical Care America, Milwaukee, WI. His service center grew to $1m annual running rate within one year providing IV therapy to patients at home. CCA was purchased by Caremark a subsidiary of Baxter Health. Tom returned to the diagnostics market to be VP of Marketing for Behring Diagnostics; a German company headquartered in Boston. Behring purchased Syva Corporation, Tom relocated to San Jose, CA. In the Silicon Valley, Tom moved to a startup company, Berkeley HeartLab. He went from Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Berkeley HeartLab, to set up his own consulting business in 1996, Horizon Performance Group, a network of experts to help startups begin the quest to build a company from an idea. He has been consulting with executives from pre-IPO/startups to Fortune 500 companies in the healthcare industry for the past 28 years. As a consultant he has facilitated management teams coordinating relationships with distribution lines. His focus has been on the responsiveness of marketing and the execution activities of sales. He was the Executive Partner at Elavity. a consulting firm in Oxford, UK. There he presented webinars on bringing a startup to the U.S. market. Tom has been on the BOD for the Biomedical Marketing Association and numerous tradeshow organizations. He is currently serving as President and CEO and on the Board of Directors for SterileWave, LLC.

Innovative Medical Device for Surgery
In this didactic presentation, the President and CEO of SterileWave will describe the early steps and activities of the two founders and blue chip board of directors to germinate the innovative product designed to disrupt a market entrenched for over 50 years with very little creativity; surgical endoscopy. The product is a single-use endoscope producing equivalent images at 5% of traditional cost endoscopes, but disposable.
