Hi,
I'm a Software Engineer currently working at elevait in a platform team, where we are working on automation, optimization and standardization topics around Kubernetes, Continuous Develiery for our company's software stack. I did my masters in Distributed Systems 2 years ago from TU Dresden, where I got to learn about the concepts on which tools like Kubernetes are working on.
I have been working with Kubernetes, and it's related technology for 03 years now, I started with Kubernetes as a side project while working on other applications and got more into it overtime. For me, having the background of software engineering really helps me to understand how the interaction between application and the orchestration can be utilized better. Over the years some of the topics I have worked on are: cpu and memory resource optimizations, network policies, GitOps, monitoring and autoscaling.
Previously in Pakistan I have worked with Google's Firebase stack which is a serverless platform, for backend development. I also have some Android applications development experience as well (but very outdated now :) )
Flux for GitOps and Continuous Delivery
In this session we will look into the concepts of GitOps, how it helps in delivering applications to our customers in automated way. We will then list and compare popular open source GitOps solutions e.g. Flux CD and ArgoCD. The session will also include a small demo on how Flux works with a Git repository and how Flux can automatically deploy new versions from Docker registry.
In the end if we have time we will see how Flux is utilizing OCI registry as source for GitOps.
