Kaapana: A Cloud Native Medical Imaging Platform
State-of-the-art medical imaging research requires a diverse toolkit, reaching from image viewers and annotation tools to specialized storage systems and cutting-edge deep learning workflows. With a heavy focus on prioritizing patient privacy, researchers usually operate under regulated conditions with limited interactions with infrastructure.
Kaapana is a medical imaging platform built on Kubernetes, facilitating research by providing specialized tooling. Employing a cloud native development approach and open-source technologies, Kaapana provides a secure, robust, extensible and customizable solution for clinicians, data scientists and medical engineers alike.
Deployed across all 38 university clinics in Germany, Kaapana is adaptable to on-premise installations as well as cloud providers. This talk provides an introduction into the capabilities of Kaapana and demonstrates how its functionality can be extended by Helm chart based plugin mechanism.
