Vanessa Burckard has worked at the Social Security Administration (SSA) in data administration for 13 years. She started her career specializing in master reference data management and helped to formalize and establish the agency’s data administration guidelines. She worked on SSA’s first attempts at a person-centric primitive data mesh, supported several master data modernization efforts, and spent time supporting almost every agency business line along the way. Since 2018, she has served as one of the agency’s Enterprise Data Architects, currently overseeing earnings, digital identity, evidence management and master reference data and evangelizing for Event Driven Architecture and Kafka technologies.
