The pattern is always the same: boards mandate multi-cloud for cheaper licensing or vendor independence. CTOs promise cost savings and compliance. What actually happens? Cost explosions, skills gaps nobody planned for, and businesses that plateau because their infrastructure became their bottleneck.
Now I'm watching the exact same pattern repeat with AI.
Companies are adopting AI to stay competitive, but they're buying capabilities their teams can't integrate and strategies they can't execute. The hype-driven rush to "AI transformation" is creating the next wave of technical debt—except this time it's happening faster and at larger scale.
