After 21+ years building and defending enterprise systems across government, finance, and tech, I've learned that the best security architecture is the one nobody notices until it saves the day.

As Security Principal Architect at the State of Illinois Office of the Comptroller, I design enterprise security systems from the ground up: architecting identity solutions with SAML and OAuth, building multi-factor authentication and encryption into the foundation rather than bolting it on, and running the DAST/SAST testing that catches problems before they become incidents. My work spans threat modeling, NIST-aligned compliance, and incident response across AWS and Azure environments.

Before this, I led distributed onshore and offshore teams through complex Agile and Waterfall delivery as a Program Manager and Technical Architect, and started my career as a developer building the web applications and database systems I now spend my days protecting.
