Master of Disaster: Fun, engaging emergency preparedness education

This experiential workshop is organized into 3 lessons coinciding with the steps to getting emergency prepared:
1.Know your hazards, so you know what to prepare for
2.Gather your supplies, so that you’ll have what you need to be safe during an emergency
3.Make a plan, so you stay connected and know what to do
Participants will be oriented to the Master of Disaster (MOD) Teaching Kit then get to experience being an MOD student.
Lesson: Know your hazards.
Participants will learn about earthquakes, experience the noise, take protective actions, hear Indigenous Knowledge, and make Disaster Catchers.
Lesson 2: Gather your supplies
Participants will be introduced to emergency kits and grab-&-go bags. At the end of the session everyone will play the grab-&-go bag game.
Lesson 3: Make a plan
Participants will learn the contents of a home emergency plan. At the end of this session, participants will be invited to take home the Home Emergency Plan to complete with members of their household.
