Vikas Vyas is a seasoned engineering leader specializing in automotive safety, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), and autonomous driving technologies. With over 15 years of experience in product safety, software engineering, and compliance, he has played a pivotal role in advancing the state of ADAS, autonomous driving, and software-defined vehicle architectures.
Vikas currently holds key leadership positions at Mercedes-Benz and Bosch USA, where he has been instrumental in developing next-generation vehicle technologies, particularly in functional safety, cybersecurity, and over-the-air (OTA) software updates. His contributions include leading the software integration of NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin for scalable AI-driven vehicle architectures and pioneering fail-operational steering systems for Level 3 autonomous vehicles. His expertise spans compliance with ISO 26262, ASPICE, and cybersecurity standards, ensuring the highest safety and performance benchmarks.
A recognized inventor, Vikas is the author of four patents and has authored numerous articles and book chapters in the field of automotive engineering, safety, and AI-driven mobility. His groundbreaking work on delta-update algorithms for OTA software has set new industry benchmarks and helps to cutting costs by hundreds of millions of euros for Mercedes-Benz. He also played a key role in developing General Motors’ Super Cruise, one of the first Level 3 autonomy systems for consumer vehicles.
Vikas is a Senior Member of IEEE and actively contributes to the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society, the IEEE Functional Safety Standards Committee (FSSC), and the IEEE P2851.1 Working Group. He serves as a Technical Program Committee (TPC) member, conference session chair, and reviewer for IEEE Transactions and other esteemed publications.
