Wanjiku Karanja is a technology lawyer and an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, with over eight years' experience advising on data protection, digital identity and digital assets. She is the founder of Law Lab Africa, a technology law consultancy and research firm that advises organisations on technology compliance across African jurisdictions, builds bespoke legal-tech compliance tools for its clients, and advises governments and institutions on technology policy. She is also the editor of the Data Protection Digest, a regulatory intelligence briefing on African data protection, and the Crypto Policy Monitor, a tracker of digital-asset regulation across the continent. She is a doctoral candidate at Stanford Law School, where her dissertation examines governance in decentralised finance.
