After graduating from the University of Sydney, Wesley started his career in small animal general practice. He later underwent an internship in emergency and critical care and worked as an emergency veterinarian. During this time, he was also volunteering with animal shelters and community programs. Following this passion for shelter medicine, he underwent a specialty internship at Cornell University, and served as a shelter veterinarian at Toronto Humane Society. In 2022, he became the first clinical resident in shelter medicine in Canada, based at the Ontario Veterinary College. In 2025, he joined Haven Veterinary Services as a shelter veterinary consultant.
