Henri Kuiper is a pre Y2K self-diagnosed Mainframe junkie, Mainframe Security Architect and CTO at Mainframe Society, founder of zDevOps and dedicated to reshaping how enterprises approach z/OS.
With a strong foundation in enterprise architectures, he works at the intersection of control and innovation—helping organizations bridge the cultural and technical divide between traditional administration and modern DevOps practices. His mission is clear: the mainframe should enable speed, not block it. In his world, governance and agility are not opposites—they are design principles.
Beyond his architectural work, he is an active voice in the global mainframe community. He co-hosts the Mainframe Society Podcast Network (MSPN), bringing conversations to life across formats including Leaders of the Mainframe World, Diary of a Mainframer, and The Mainframe Community. A regular speaker at GSE-UK, GS-NL, SHARE and IBM conferences, he is known for energetic sessions that connect legacy strength with modern thinking—often blending security, DevOps, open source, and culture into one cohesive story.

Mainframes & Malware the 2024 update
Are you curious to what *actual* Malware on a Mainframe could (or should?) look like? How it operates? If it's even possible?
Join me in a thrilling session where I'll disect and explain some common elements found in Malware on the distributed platforms and show you how an attacker focussed on z/OS might expoit the same methods to infect your precious Mainframe.

CBT Tape, a treasure trove of powerups no mainframer should be without
Since the 1970s the CBT tape has been the place where mainframe sysprogs have collaborated to share apps, code, and powerups to the z/OS environment and is now a top level Open Mainframe Project.
This session will show how to get started with CBT tape, explore its library, install some of it's amazing utilities, and use them for productivity powerups. It'll also show how to get involved with the community for folks who want to improve what's there and contribute back, or else provide their own in-house goodies for the benefit of the wide mainframe community.

Continuous Compliance: Security Automation with MFPandas
RACF environments often contain thousands of users, groups, permits, and naming conventions. Over time, complexity grows — and so does the risk of configuration drift, audit findings, and undocumented exceptions.
What if RACF compliance checks could be automated, repeatable, and version-controlled?
In this session, the creator of MFPandas (formerly known as pyRACF) demonstrates how to transform RACF data into structured datasets using Python and pandas, enabling automated compliance validation against:
Internal naming standards
Segregation-of-duties rules
External audit requirements
Security baselines and conventions
By treating RACF data as analyzable dataframes, we can implement “Compliance as Code” principles on z/OS — bringing DevOps-style validation to mainframe security.
The session includes live demonstrations and practical implementation patterns that attendees can adapt directly within their own environments.
Audience level: Attendees are expected to have a working knowledge of Python, basic familiarity with pandas, and a general understanding of RACF concepts and terminology. This is not an introductory RACF or Python session.
XMIT Unpacked Bringing Mainframe Transmit Files into Modern Automation Pipelines
XMIT, IBM's NETDATA transmit format, has been the backbone of mainframe dataset sharing and the CBT Tape community for decades, yet its binary structure remains poorly documented and almost entirely locked behind proprietary tooling. In this talk we'll walk through the open-source Python xmi library, which can parse XMI, AWS, and HET files, browse partitioned and sequential datasets, and extract members without touching z/OS. We'll then introduce our new addition: the ability to generate valid XMIT files from scratch in pure Python, opening the door to automated dataset packaging and XMIT creation baked directly into CI/CD pipelines. Along the way you'll get a ground-up tour of the NETDATA and IEBCOPY record structures so you leave understanding exactly what's inside every byte of those .xmi files you've been passing around for years.
