Dr. Mary Graft is on the Organizational Performance Office team at Arizona State University. Her MBA is in Marketing and Finance from University of Illinois-Chicago, and her doctorate is in Educational Leadership and Policy studies from the University of Denver. With extensive business experience in B2C, B2B, nonprofit, and educational systems, Dr. Graft’s professional interests are in workforce development, operational improvement, customer experience, and the promotion of cybersecurity and technical education. Prior to joining ASU, Mary worked for Sears, W. W. Grainger, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, real estate, and large K-12 school systems in the Chicago and Denver areas. Prior to joining ASU, Mary was Director of Educational Pathways and Workforce Development at the National Cybersecurity Center in Colorado Springs.

Dr. Graft received the Distinguished Educator Award from the United States Air Force and is a member of InfraGard, Women in Cybersecurity (WiCys), and the Association of Career & Technical Educators (ACTE). She has worked with NIST as a program advisor for the National Initiative for Cyber Education (NICE) and sits on the Board of Advisors for the National Cyber Exchange. When she is not working, Mary enjoys hiking, travel, and golf as well as mentoring students and volunteering for nature conservancy.

Leadership Actions to Improve the Sense of Belonging in Remote Settings

This session will offer ways to maintain morale with remote staff. Challenges will be identified, benefits of leadership actions will be discussed, and proven ideas will be offered that either utilize existing resources or require small investments. Participants will be asked to have cameras on, mics off, and engage in the session via chat box and virtual reactions. There will be a break-out session to assess the ideas offered and bring new ideas to add to the conversation. Audience ideas will be added to a shared doc that will be provided to all participants as a take-away for leadership action ideas at your organization.
