Take advantage of MicroProfile benefits in your monolithic applications
We are in the era of microservices, but monolithic applications have been with us for more than 20 years, and will be for many years more. Also the microservices are not the perfect and bulletproof solution for everyone.
In this presentation we will discuss pros and cons of migrating an existing or legacy application to microservices using the MicroProfile API's and how we can take advantage of them without the need of refactor all of our monolithic applications.
MicroProfile: a world beyond REST APIs
When thinking about microservices, often the first thing to come to mind is a REST API, but there are more ways to build a robust application and process data in real-time. In this session, we will discuss real-world scenarios where MicroProfile and Quarkus are used to back an event-driven application to build ETLs and billing systems in an async/event-driven way making use of queues, streams, and notifications.
JakartaEE: is java serverless is really possible ?
When thinking about lambdas, functions or serverless in general, most of the time Java is not first choice because in the past we had bad experiences with cold start, excessive memory use and heavy application servers.
In this session we will discuss how JakartaEE can be used on serverless environments without too much hassle, taking advantage of a mature platform thanks to the latest JVM tweaks and native compilation.
