Dr. Catherine Zeisner is a proud Canadian scholar-practitioner who believes the best in education is right around the corner. As an assistant professor at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington, Catherine teaches Master, Doctoral, and principal certification candidates. Catherine believes in the power of resiliency and positivity as demonstrated by conquering cancer in 2011 and completing 3 Chicago Marathons. Psychosocial skills (PSS) in Zambia: How culture, church, and the concept of Ubuntu lead the way!
The benefits of social-emotional learning and psychosocial skills in rural Zambia are the targets of this study. Taylor et al. (2017) found positive SEL effects for students from diverse socioeconomic demographics however, studies did not report ethnicity, and few reported students in poverty. They suggest studies to assess how students from diverse socioeconomic and ethnic groups respond to SEL.
