Do You Actually Need an Agent?

Agents are exciting. That doesn’t mean every business process needs one.

With Agent Builder, Copilot Studio, Copilot Cowork, Power Apps and Power Automate offering more ways to solve business problems, choosing the right approach is becoming as important as knowing how to implement it.

This session provides a practical way to decide when an agent is the right solution and when a simpler, more deterministic approach may be better. We’ll look at scenarios involving workflows, approvals, human-in-the-loop processes, integrations and reasoning, and consider how complexity, scale and consumption should influence the decision.

The session is designed for solution architects, makers and technical decision-makers responsible for turning business requirements into working solutions.

Rather than starting with “How do we build an agent?”, we’ll start with the business problem and work forwards.

By the end, you’ll have a framework for deciding not only how to build your solution, but whether it should be an agent at all.

The Importance of Agent Design in Copilot Studio

Agents worth building require intentional design, but most makers haven't been taught what that means yet. As agent-to-agent architecture becomes the new standard, understanding how it shapes performance, maintainability and user experience is no longer optional.

Join Business Applications MVPs Cathrine Bruvold and Andrew Bibby for a practical session on how to get good at agent design in Copilot Studio and why it matters more than you might realise. We will explore why agents don't always deliver what you've asked of them and how to write instructions that actually work. Then we go further and dive into orchestrator agents that delegate intelligently to specialist child agents, rather than doing all the heavy lifting themselves. Learn from their hard-won knowledge as they shares the need-to-know non-negotiables when building agents today.

Leave with a clearer sense of what good agent design looks like and exactly what it takes to get there. Understand how agent-to-agent architecture affect performance, reusability, maintainability and differ from single agent systems. Get insights on how to leverage and simplify instructions to optimise agent execution.

Getting Started with App Building in Copilot Cowork and Copilot Studio

You bring the ideas, we’ll bring Copilot - let’s see what we can build! 🚀 We’re putting app building in Microsoft Copilot Cowork and Copilot Studio to the test, and you get a say in what happens.

This session is for Power Platform makers and consultants who know the platform and want to explore these new AI capabilities. We’ll start with a practical business scenario, then let your suggestions steer the build. What could possibly go wrong? 👀

We’ll cover the essential setup and getting started in both tools. Together, we’ll describe requirements, connect business data and tweak the app’s layout and behaviour through conversation. Then comes the moment of truth: testing, publishing and sharing the result.

Before anyone gets too carried away, we’ll cover licensing, controlling access to your app and its data, admin controls, and building and running costs.

Expect plenty of demos and practical tips for your own first app. Bring your app ideas and help put Copilot to the test!

Power Platform Governance Glow-Up: Build Your Baseline✨

Governance is demanding. The CoE Starter Kit has ghosted your governance strategy. Copilot Studio agents are living their best limitless life in the Default environment. And the one Data Loss Prevention policy is working overtime protecting every environment in your tenant. Everything is fine 🔥

This session is meant for admins who want to understand how to build and configure a practical governance baseline, focusing on foundational Power Platform guardrails and how to gain control through visibility.

Through demos and real-world use cases, we'll discuss best practices for access management and sharing, have a look at the new and natively available governance capabilities in Power Platform Admin Center and showcase how to utilise tenant and environment-level controls to visualise and tame your agents and apps living in the shadows.

You’ll leave with a practical understanding of the controls and governance practices needed to regain visibility, reduce risk and ensure that everything really is fine ✨

Power Platform Governance Glow-Up: Beyond the Baseline🚦

You've established your governance baseline. You know what's being built, where it lives and who owns it. Then someone's personal productivity app becomes business critical, a flow becomes everyone's dependency and an agent's consumption starts attracting attention. Your baseline is working. Now what? 🤷🏼‍♀️

This session is for Power Platform admins ready to turn visibility into action and explore the invaluable governance capabilities such as Environment Groups, Environment Routing and Advanced Connector Policies (ACP).

We'll discuss how to put controls into practice using the zone-based governance approach, and then talk about how to enforce guardrails as part of your environment strategy. Understand how growing adoption and solution complexity require more control, and that there exist options for scaling on Power Platform without driving the manual overhead and administration through the roof.

The goal isn't to apply enterprise controls to everything. It's to apply the right governance at the right stage. By the end, you'll know what can stay lightweight, what assets need stronger controls and when it's time to move that "little experiment" into a managed home.

Spice Up Power Apps Development With A Coding Agent 🔥

Working with Claude Code or GitHub Copilot as your coding agent isn’t just a productivity hack, it’s a whole new approach to building and optimising Power Apps.

In this session you'll learn how to configure and use Microsoft's Power Platform Skills plugin, the Canvas app MCP server and authoring agent to plan and develop Power Apps straight from a terminal or Visual Studio Code. We will look at how to design apps before even going into Power Apps studio, and you will understand how to create a GitHub repository for your app source code.

Expect tips, tricks and live demos that showcase how to utilise coding agents as part of your workflow. Gain insights on how you can utilise Claude Code or GitHub Copilot to build Power Apps. Understand how to iterate on app components using plain language.

Once Claude is part of your development process, going back to manually building apps “alone” feels unthinkable.
