Navigating Post-BSL Terraform: OpenTofu and Beyond for AWS USers

In August 2023, HashiCorp's controversial switch to the newly coined Business Source License (BSL) for Terraform ignited discussions in the AWS user community about the future of open source IaC software. Using DevOps to Power an AI Assisted Development Hackathon

In June 2023, our company hosted its inaugural global hackathon that aimed to discover which AI Assisted Development tool is most effective for Java Developers. The participating teams were given a challenging problem statement and only a limited time to complete it with either the assistance of one of Tabnine, Copilot, or Starchat. A number of groups acted as the control and completed the challenge unaided.
This lightning talk will demonstrate how Terraform, GitLab and AWS were used to provision and manage the virtual desktops, GitLab projects, and CICD pipelines that enabled the participants to reach their potential in the hackathon. The talk will explore the pitfalls and successes of using these technologies, and will discuss the somewhat surprising results of the hackathon.

Dynatrace 101: an introduction to the world of AIOps

It is often a key weapon in AIOps solutions, but what is Dynatrace? And what is AIOps? This talk aims to introduce the concept of Artificial Intelligence for IT Operations (AIOps) and explain how Dynatrace, a software intelligence platform, can be used to monitor and optimise application performance. Dynatrace provides full-stack observability and root cause analysis by utilising AI and automation. It will explore how Dynatrace can be implemented on different technology stacks as part of an AIOps solution that gives organisations the power to resolve an incident in minutes with no hands-on involvement from engineers.
