Elevating The Role Of Business Analyst To Proxy Data Scientist
Until a few years ago, technological limitations made it hard for most companies to generate insights from most of the data it produces. Businesses had to rely on traditional data warehouses not always suited to managing the high volumes of structured and unstructured data available to support better decision-making and optimization of customer-facing products, services, and features. However, recent advances in technology are not only creating more powerful capabilities to manage and analyze data, but also making them much more accessible to everyone with the help of open source initiatives and self-service tools.
As a result, in the current business environment using data to its full potential is much more about identifying and following through with high-value opportunities than it is about deploying technology. And that’s where business analysts in general and technical IT BAs in particular can find a big opening to elevate their roles within their organizations." -- The Critical Role BAs Can Play in Companies Using Advanced Analytics", The Modern Analyst blog.
In this session, the Atlanta IIBA Chapter's VP of Professional Development (Jaleann McClurg) will bring her experience in the Data Analytics space to help you understand how you can leverage your current BA skills to "find your seat at the table" in this fast-growing area of the Business Analysis world.
A 2021 International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) survey noted that BAs can make a huge difference in the success of data analytics projects in several ways:
1) driving the analysis itself
2) serve as a partner with business leaders and data science experts
3) ensure that a solid business case and outcomes are defined for the project.
If you are interested in raising your abilities and your stature within your company in this arena, this is the presentation for you.
The market forces of cloud computing, IoT, digital transformation, value- driven analysis and data science are brewing the perfect storm to position BA for becoming proxy data scientist in absence of skilled resources. This presentation will discuss resources for BA up skilling and also present a blueprint of how BA role intersects data scientist role and why BA is well positioned to play a seat at the table becoming a trusted advisor of the business. Jaleann will discuss distinct skillsets for data science roles to keep in mind on your growth plans.

Unlocking the Future: ChatGPT for Business Analysts – Trends and Live Demo
In the fast-paced world of business analysis, the need for cutting-edge tools and methodologies is more pressing than ever. As we stand on the brink of a new era in data analytics and decision-making, one innovation is poised to revolutionize the way business analysts operate: ChatGPT. Recently, I had the privilege of presenting a session titled “ChatGPT for Business Analysts: Trends and Live Demo,” and the experience underscored a pivotal moment in our professional landscape.
Why ChatGPT Matters
Business analysts are the linchpins of organizational success, transforming raw data into actionable insights that drive strategic decisions. But with the exponential growth of data and increasing complexity of business environments, the traditional methods of analysis are rapidly becoming insufficient. Enter ChatGPT – an AI-powered tool designed not just to keep pace with these changes but to set the pace.
ChatGPT represents a paradigm shift in how we approach business analysis. Imagine having a tool that not only augments your analytical capabilities but also enhances your strategic thinking. This isn’t science fiction; it’s the reality that ChatGPT brings to the table. With its advanced language processing capabilities, ChatGPT can interpret vast amounts of data, generate actionable insights, and even predict trends with remarkable accuracy.
