Building a fully "functional" F# web API

How does a "functional programmer" go about building a web API in F#? How does it differ from "object oriented" solutions in C#?

In this talk we'll go over just enough concepts of the functional programming paradigm and apply them to flesh out a fully functional web API.

We will touch on topics like immutability, partial application, union types, pattern matching, functors, applicatives and much more juicy functional concepts. Instead of boring theory we'll immediately apply what we learn in our web API.

You'll leave this session with a better understanding of what "functional programming" really means, both in theory and in practice.

Technical team coaching

In this session, we dive into the amazing world of technical coaching for agile teams. First, we take a look at the wider context of complex systems, organizations and agile teams and how you can view change in that context.

Next, we will go over the meaning of the term “technical coaching”. What exactly does a coach do? How are coaches positioned within an organization? How do you pick your next “battle” as a coach? What are common pitfalls? What skills does a coach need to master?

The largest part of the talk will be devoted to practical tips, tricks and tools you can use to lift your team to higher levels with a maximum chance of success.

Who is this talk for?
