In an era of increasing global interconnectedness, our professional landscapes are shaped by diverse cultural influences. Whether collaborating with immigrants in your home country or navigating teams stationed internationally, the potential for culture clashes looms large.

5 things you should know about whistleblowing
Are you ready to take on one of the biggest taboos in the workplace? It's time to talk about whistleblowing! This powerful tool allows employees to report illegal behavior and stand up for what's right, even if it comes with risks. But why is it considered taboo? Often, it's because the issues reported are themselves taboo, and because it involves holding those in positions of power accountable for things like corruption, harassment, and discrimination.
It's time to break the taboo and have an open conversation about whistleblowing. How much do you really know about this important topic? Chances are, you haven't had much training or even talked with a whistleblower. That's why I've gathered five eye-opening facts about whistleblowing and included statistics in Norway to share with you. These insights will change the way you think about your role in reporting misconduct and leave you with a better understanding of this crucial issue. Don't miss out on this chance to learn and make a difference!
5 reasons to start a book club
Have you been in a workplace where everyone, at least everyone in management, was talking about how what was just decided was exactly how things should be done based on a book you had not read?
Yeah, you probably felt a little bit excluded, classified yourself in the group of the "ones who do not know".
And then you went to read the book and you thought: “humm, everything makes sense except that we are not doing that one thing that is pretty central in the book”.
You wondered if you read it wrong, maybe even read some parts again - who knows maybe at second read you would get it.
Still you did not get it, something was off. You gathered all your courage and asked someone who was "in the know". You either got an answer that was satisfying or not.
Anyway you wished you would have been able to discuss the ideas of the book with your peers, because let’s face it some other people did not read the book either, so that you did get a better experience.
That is just one of the reasons why you should start a book club. There are at least 4 other good reasons to start and be part of a book club at work.
We need to talk about whistleblowing
Whistleblowing - reporting another person’s unethical behaviour - is one of the last stigmas of the workplace. In a business world where it is finally possible to be yourself, it is still taboo to talk about blowing the whistle.
As with any taboo or stigma, if you don’t talk about it, you just reinforce it.
When you don’t talk about it, there won’t be progress, and the current situation is not very bright. Most people who should whistleblow do not, and if they do most cases are not properly treated, and most whistleblowers suffer negative consequences.
So let’s start conversations about whistleblowing so that we see less unethical behaviour in the workplace, more reporting and a better treatment of whistleblowing cases and whistleblowers.
In this talk, I am going to share how I aged 5+ years and quit my job after whistleblowing in an environment where whistleblowing was not talked about. I will suggest topics of conversations that I believe will prevent you and people you care about from having to go through the same bad experience.
My goal is to enable you to talk about whistleblowing. So you will get facts and figures, you will get information about the barriers to whistleblowing, and maybe even a piece of code.
Not having conflicts is not an option… let’s have good ones
Have you ever been part of a team or workplace where there was no conflict at all? If you haven't, it's probably because you don't live in a utopia! Conflict is an inevitable part of any team or organization, and it's actually a good thing. That's because conflict can lead to innovation and progress by allowing people to challenge the status quo and think creatively.
However, conflict can also be uncomfortable and even scary for some people. Do you tend to avoid conflict by burying your head in the sand or quitting when things get tough? Or do you handle conflict in a more dramatic way, like exploding or slamming doors?
There is a better way to handle conflict – a way that is productive and leads to positive outcomes. In this session, you'll learn what good conflict looks like, what factors contribute to tension in a conflict, and how you can improve your conflict resolution skills in the workplace and in your personal life. Don't miss out on this opportunity to learn how to navigate conflict effectively!
