Nora Bryant joined the Training and Technical Assistance Center (T/TAC) at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2022 as an Early Childhood Program Specialist. She received her undergraduate degree in special education from James Madison University, and later earned her M.Ed. in Early Childhood Special Education from Virginia Commonwealth University. Prior to joining VCU T/TAC, she was an early childhood special education teacher for 20 years, serving as a classroom teacher, teacher mentor, itinerant teacher, and diagnostician. Nora previously served as an adjunct professor at the University of Richmond in the School of Professional and Continuing Studies’ Curriculum and Instruction program and currently is an adjunct professor at Virginia Commonwealth University in the School of Education. She is passionate about supporting teacher growth and development, and ensuring that all children have access to a quality early childhood education experience.

How do two strangers with differing philosophies effectively work together to promote positive child outcomes? The foundation of effective teams is trusting relationships. This session will introduce teaming and collaboration strategies to determine communication styles, navigate biases and differing philosophies, and determine shared roles and responsibilities.
Preschool Inclusion 101
Are you curious about how to include young children with disabilities in your classroom? This presentation will begin with a review of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), emphasizing the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) and the continuum of placements. A current snapshot of early childhood inclusion in Virginia will be provided to set the context.
We will explore common barriers, myths, and the latest research supporting inclusive programs in the early childhood settings. The presentation will conclude with a discussion of effective inclusive practices that lead to improved outcomes for young learners.

How do you meet the diverse and individual needs of the students in your classroom? Join us to address common barriers that early childhood educators face when implementing specially designed instruction (SDI). We will delve into planning tools and strategies for embedding SDI to support the diverse needs of young learners with disabilities across daily routines in all early childhood settings.
