Turn Any Excel Table Into a Dynamic Power BI Visual
Ever wish you could display any Excel table dynamically in Power BI? In this session, I show you how! Starting with a table in Excel, I use the HTML VizCreator custom visual to bring it into Power BI Desktop. With a touch of DAX magic, the table becomes fully dynamic, powered by the data in Power BI.
We all know that one Excel file—the one everyone loves, uses, and refuses to give up. Well, now you can finally bring that beloved table into Power BI and make it look even cooler! This session is an eye-opener, demonstrating something most people don’t even know is possible.
Since every company uses Excel, bringing familiar Excel-style tables into Power BI can have a huge impact. It’s a game-changer for anyone looking to streamline reporting while keeping the trusted look and feel of Excel.
This technique is perfect for creating pixel-perfect tables and saving hours of manual work. And while it might sound technical, there’s no need to worry—no HTML coding required! In fact, I don’t write a single line of HTML during the entire session.
Target Audience: Intermediate to advanced Power BI users, especially those familiar with DAX and comfortable with code-heavy sessions.
Session Duration: 45-60 minutes, adaptable to the event format.

Inside Power BI Embedded: Building Analytics Apps with the REST API (Technical Session)
Power BI Embedded can feel overwhelming at first — especially when you move beyond simple iframe embedding and start working with authentication, service principals, and the REST API. This technical session is designed to give developers a clear and practical starting point.
We’ll walk through the key concepts behind app-owns-data embedding, how the authentication flow works, and how to set up a service principal correctly. You’ll learn how to generate access and embed tokens, how the REST API fits into the overall embedding process, and which endpoints are important when you want to automate workspaces, reports, or user access.
The goal of this session is not to cover every advanced scenario, but to give you a solid foundation you can build on. By the end, you’ll understand how the pieces fit together and have a clear path for integrating Power BI Embedded into your own applications.
This session is quite code-heavy and technical. We'll use postman, VS code etc. to build a small Embedded solution.
Power BI Embedded: What It Is, Why It Matters, and Where You Can Use It
Embedded analytics is one of the most overlooked parts of the Power BI platform. In this session, we explore what Power BI Embedded actually is, how it works, and why it can open up completely new possibilities for internal teams, customers, and even product scenarios.
You’ll learn when it makes sense to embed Power BI content into your own applications, websites, portals, or tools. We’ll look at the advantages and limitations, licensing options, and what the basic infrastructure typically looks like.
The focus of this session is inspiration: real examples, practical use cases, and patterns you can adapt for your own organization. Whether you’re thinking about customer portals, partner dashboards, analytics in your product, or more efficient internal workflows, this session will help you identify opportunities where embedded analytics can add value.
Ideal for anyone who wants to think outside the “Power BI report page” and see what’s actually possible.
This is a non-technical session where no code is used but we really want people to start thinking outside the box and get inspired by the possibilities of Power BI Embedded.
Power BI vs. Tableau: A Practical Guide for Power BI Users Getting Curious About Tableau
This session is designed for Power BI users who keep hearing about Tableau and want a clear, honest understanding of how the two tools compare. Delivered by two experts—a Power BI pro and a Tableau pro—this talk breaks down the differences, clears up misconceptions, and shows what Tableau can (and cannot) do from a Power BI perspective.
We explore some common questions Power BI users typically ask when looking at Tableau for the first time:
“There’s no Power Query—so how do I clean or shape my data?”
“There’s no DAX—so how do I create calculations?”
“Is Tableau really better for visualization, or is that just marketing?”
Using real examples and side-by-side comparisons, both presenters demonstrate how familiar Power BI tasks translate into Tableau’s approach. The dual-expert format encourages interaction, open discussion, and Q&A, giving attendees the opportunity to ask questions directly and learn from both viewpoints.
By the end, attendees will have a practical, balanced understanding of how Tableau differs from Power BI, where each tool shines, and how to think about using both in a diverse analytics environment.
