What Security Geeks should know (and could exploit) about modern software development
Come learn (and do) for yourself what's cool about software development these days, and the many ways it can make your life easier.
We'll live-build a modern software development system and look at how each piece addresses security issues such as code security, access control, securing sensitive information, vulnerability detection, and more.
You'll need a free GitHub account if you want to follow along, but no dev experience is needed.
You'll come away ready to talk shop with your dev team and work with them to improve software security. And you'll have hands-on experience with some dev tools that can be just as useful for security geeks.
What Devs Don't Have to Do using an Internal Developer Platform
iDP (Internal Developer Platforms) and "Platform Engineering" are all the rage, but how would it make a difference in your day-to-day life as a developer?
Come see a "day in the life" of an app developer using the iDP built at Utah's own Weave (Communications).
We'll use the same tools Weave developers use to build and deploy a "Hello world" app - with back-end microservices, front-end UI, gRPC, REST, properly-handled sensitive information, authentication, documentation, auto-scaling, metrics, logging, and alerting. Along the way, we'll discuss how an iDP compares with "traditional" development methods.
