From Power BI Admin to Fabric Admin: Governance, Monitoring, and Capacity in Practice

Are you comfortable building reports in Power BI, but less sure what happens after you publish them? Or have you suddenly found yourself responsible for administering Fabric as well?

I’ve worked as a Power BI and Fabric administrator and now regularly help organizations with Power BI and Fabric governance. The questions I hear are often practical ones: Which tenant settings matter? How should we keep an eye on capacity? Where do we start when something is slow—or when nobody knows what is using the resources?

In this full-day, hands-on masterclass, we’ll work through the day-to-day responsibilities of a Power BI and Fabric administrator. We’ll look at tenant and workspace governance, permissions and compliance, then explore the Admin Monitoring workspace and Capacity Metrics app to investigate usage, performance, and capacity pressure. We’ll use practical scenarios to discuss capacity planning, bursting and smoothing, cost management, alerts, and troubleshooting, and where automation can help.

You’ll leave with a clearer picture of what to monitor, which tools to reach for, and how to turn what you find into sensible next steps. Bring your questions and challenges; we’ll make time to work through them together.

Suggested target audience:
* Power BI administrators who are starting to take on Fabric responsibilities
* BI developers or technical leads who help manage their organization’s Fabric environment
* IT professionals involved in workspace governance, monitoring, or capacity planning
* It’s also suitable for people newly assigned as Fabric admins who want a practical overview of the role.

Prerequisites: Familiarity with Power BI and the Fabric Service is helpful. No prior Fabric administration experience is required.
